I’m using WP v 5.9. and Smart Slider 2.3.13. I suddenly received the below fatal error and couldn’t access my website.

I disabled the Smart Slider 2.3.3 and I’m now able to access the Admin side of my site. I also tried installing Smart Slider 3 with Smart Slider 2.3.13 disabled but the changes on my site were lost and my Home Page won’t load.

Kindly let me know how to correct the issue below so that I can properly upgrade to Smart Slider 3

Fatal error: Array and string offset access syntax with curly braces is no longer supported in /home1/myinfo/public_html/myurl/wp-content/plugins/smart-slider-2/nextend/database/wordpress.php on line 57

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @clifton11221!

The development of Smart Slider 2 stopped in 2015, so that won’t be compatible with newer WordPress versions. Because of this, I suggest leaving it deactivated and deleted, but before that, you should know this info:
Since then we are developing Smart Slider 3, and that is what I suggest using. But you should note, that Smart Slider 2 and 3 are completely different plugins, so your Smart Slider 2 sliders cannot be imported to Smart Slider 3. Because of this, if you delete Smart Slider 2, your sliders will be lost.

Currently your homepage doesn’t load, because of a JavaScript error within your theme. You can see this for example in Chrome if you press F12 -> click on Console -> refresh your page. The error points to this file:
    https://4wheelcity.com/pages/wp-content/themes/wisdom-pro/assets/js/cv-custom-scripts.js
    and it says:
Uncaught TypeError: $(...).live is not a function

jQuery removed the ‘live’ function from its code since jQuery 1.9, from 2013. So I’m sorry, but it looks like your theme is also not compatible with the latest WordPress version, and it seems like you would need to update that as well. After you will have a working theme, Smart Slider 3 should work fine on your website too. Although I suggest checking out your other plugins as well, because if two codes are 7-9 years old on your website, probably there will be more.

Noted, and thank you! Yes, I updated all plugins yesterday. I’m now attempting to get the latest version of the theme as well.

I’ll report back here if I have any questions. Thanks again!
