I was pleased to see that you’ve introduced the Smart Pad option for displaying portrait images, as people I’ve set up slideshows for have struggled with adding white space to the sides of their images.

However, it seems not to be displaying properly on my android mobile.

  • Hi there,

Do you have a link to your site?

    Thanks,

    Yes

This looks fine on my desktop PC and on a Kindle Fire I tried, but on my Samsung Galaxy S mp3 player the portrait orientation image (pink hydrangea flowers) is small with padding on the left, right and bottom.

Sorry – that seems to have turned my whole paragraph into a link but it should still work.

    Hi Jane,

Do you know exactly which version of the Galaxy you have and/or Android version.

It might be that it’s outdated and unable to have a specific layout.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Yes you could be right – I’ve had it for nearly 3 years.

    It’s a Samsung YP-G70CW Galaxy S MP3 player with Android 2.2

I’m not too worried about whether or not I can view the slideshow OK, so long as most visitors to my site can. Maybe it’s a quirk to do with my device – in which case it’s fine.

Otherwise, I may need to stick with the white borders for portrait images.

    Hi Jane,

2.2 has a distribution of 0.4% so you should be ok:

Like you said, if those users can still see the images then that’s the main thing.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Thanks, Dave.

Let’s hope that’s the reason. I suppose if most people were having problems you’d have heard about it now. So I’ll assume it’s just because of my device.
