small contact images need resizing, not fit the container

    I created a contact info section in the footer with text widget with a look similar to the “Sedney: contact info widget”. I could not use the latter one as my phone number could not be protected there (it required a code that I could write only as a txt). So, I inserted a small image and added my contact details to it with a code in the text widget. Seemingly, everything worked fine, but I am getting a message from Smush that “The images listed below are being resized to fit a container. To avoid serving oversized or blurry images, try to match the images to their container sizes.” and “This image is too large for its container. Adjust the image dimensions to 0 x 0px for optimal results.” How can I fix this in Sydney theme? I am using a small phone image and a small envelope image, each 16x16px.Thank you for your help in advance

    Your logo image size is 300×69px and it’s resized to 99×23px in order to fit its container, so please try to reduce that image size from 300×69px to 99×23px.

    Thank you. Actually, wordpress image library indicates 280 by 50 pixels for the logo. In Customizing/Additional CSS there is .site-logo { max-height: 60px; max-width: 280px; }
    Shouldn’t that be OK? Smush does not give me warning for the logo but it circles the phone and envelope icons in the footer.

    I meant your image right above footer, not the one in header. Now I see that you used little images instead of Font Awesome icons. I don’t see issues with them, but you can try to disable lazy load and see if it helps.

    Thank you. I see. I resized the image right above the footer you mentioned. To me it seems right now. However, Smush still shows image issues without indicating which image has a problem:
    Oversized
    1. 1 x 1px – 0 × 0px
    2. 1 x 1px – 0 × 0px
    3. 1 x 1px – 0 × 0px
    4. 1 x 1px – 0 × 0px
    Undersized
    1. 1 x 1px – 96 × 96px
    2. 1 x 1px – 14 × 14px
    3. 1 x 1px – 14 × 14px
    4. 1 x 1px – 16 × 16px

    Only the phone and envelope images are circled. Anyway, how can I know what is the size of a container where I want to fit an image in?

    Thank you. Disabling the lazy load solves the image issue only for part of the images, so I switched back to it as it helps page load speed. Still don’t understand why Smush does not say which image has a problem if it indicates a problem.

    Yeah, that’s frustrating. I’ve just checked your website with GTmetrix and didn’t see this problem, so I guess that it might be a Smush issue. But you can also try to contact Smush support and see what they say.
