    So, the Yoast SEO plugin has a function that allows to specify what category on a post is the primary category.

    For the Salient theme we are using, this then displays the primary category tag over the post feed.

    This mostly works, but the bug occurs when you choose 2 categories with the category that is not defined as primary being alphabetically lower.

    In the example Ive shown, 2 categories are selected, “Company news” and “Public Sector”. “Public Sector” is chosen as the primary category yet “Company news” is the category that is shown on the front end.

    This is something to do with the alphabetical order because if I select say “Housing” as the second category instead of “Company News” then the whole tool works correctly. This is because the primary category is alphabetically lower.
