• Hi Danny,

I like the look of the MC for WP plugin, but I’m getting weird results from it, perhaps because of the installed plugins (including Contact Form 7, and this is a client’s site, so I’m reluctant to deactivate that). I can essentially configure anything in the settings, but A) it always take forever to finish refreshing the screen, and B) it never seems to “take” the API key, it alway says “NOT CONNECTED.” And while my form is appearing on the site, it merely refreshes the screen when I try to sign up with it – my email address isn’t added to the MC mailing list. Any idea how I should proceed here? You mentioned something about a “Harish’ line” in CF7, but I’m not sure what that means. Here are the active plugins (yes, kind of ridiculous, not my doing):

    Akismet
    All In One SEO Pack
    AutoChimp
    Broken Link Checker
    Contact Form 7
    Contact Form 7 widget
    Google Analytics for WordPress
    Select Google XML Sitemaps
    Gravity Forms
Gravity Forms Contact Form 7 Importer
    Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin
    HQ Sand Box
    Image Widget
    InboundWriter
    MailChimp for WP
    Multi-level Navigation Plugin
    Newsletter
    Share Buttons by AddToAny
    ShareThis
    TS Custom Widgets
    Widgets on Pages
    WordSocial
    wp-Table
    WP-Table Reloaded
    WP Email-to-Facebook plugin
    WP Super Popup
    WP to Twitter

    Hi WhitG,

The “Harish” line is already included in the latest updates of the plugin so no need to worry about that. A few questions to help me identify the problem though.

It sounds like the plugin has a problem connecting to the MailChimp server from your WordPress installation, that’s why it is saying not connected, is taking forever to load (the plugin pings the MailChimp to determine the connection status) and does nothing when submitting the form.

Can you install a debug plugin like “BlackBox debug bar” for a second just to see if any error notices pop-up? That would be really helpful. Also, check with your clients webhost to see if cURL is enabled although I think it is (because of the long loading times..).

    Thanks.

    Hey Danny,

So sorry, I decided later in the day to just move on, I ended up just using a text widget with a MailChimp-created form. I appreciate your help, though!

    Hey WhitG,

No problem! It sounded like a server issue and not a plugin issue so, hopefully, no need for me to look into it. Glad you got a working sign-up form now. ??
