• This plugin has slowed my website dramatically. With it, my average load time was 8-10 sec. Without it 3 sec!.

Since all of it’s API calls are done in the back end and not on a front end page load, it shouldn’t have made any real difference at all. Can you give me any more information about your site (URL, host, etc)?

Did you contact Dreamhost support to ask them to take a look? I happen to know they have an amazing and knowledgeable WordPress support person there. Maybe they could at least give me something to go on. I’ve never seen this plugin add even 1 second of loading time much less 5-7, and that’s definitely not normal.

I’ve tried few times. They’ve always responded how i should disable some of the plugins…

vladeta – I’m looking at your site right now (of course you have the plugin turned off), as well as your support tickets, to see if there’s anything we may have missed.

You’re using PHP 5.2, which is always a tetchy point. While WP works on it, it’s not best, and if possible, using 5.3 fast CGI would give you better performance.

I am going to install this plugin on a test site, to see if I can cause the same problems, Aaron.

Thanks a ton Mika. I appreciate it.

On my small, barely traveled, test site, it’s actually just barely noticeably slower than my other test site. I can just tell it’s slower. Same version of WP, same server, same (sample) data. I happen to have 5.2 PHP on that server because I was testing nginx and we only have 5.2 for that (I know).

I’m going to run the P3 suite on it later today after training, Aaron.

According to the P3 plugin that Mika ran, it looks like Twitter Widget makes about a 6.7% impact on load times on a basic site on DreamHost. So if your site loaded in 3 seconds without it, it should load in about 3.2 seconds with it. Having said that, a 3 second page load is actually quite slow, so maybe something else that was causing the slowing caused worse slowing with my plugin.

Anyway, it appears that it’s not something caused by Twitter Widget Pro.

Ok. Thanks for your help. I’ll try to sort it out some other way.

vladeta – I was running the P3 Plugin Profiler Plugin (say that 10 times fast!) to see where the slow times were.

Note: The only plugin I was running when I ran the test was Twitter Widget Pro.

I’ve tested loading speeds with P3. Now when I’ve uninstalled Twitter widget pro, majority of loading time goes to woocommerce and the theme. I feel that there is still room for improvement.

What were the results when you had TWP installed?

If you want to email me at mika.epstein at dreamhost.com, I can see if it’s anything we can do on this end ??

Did you ever get this resolved? I hate to see this bad rating sitting here.

    Thread Starter vladeta

    (@vladeta)

Yes, I have solved this issue by migrating from DreamHost. The moment I migrated, my site started working normally. So its not up to your plugin, its up to DreamHost servers.
