    Hi,

Just installed the Sucuri plugin and it really sucked up alot of my server resources as soon I installed it, and forcing the site to hang.
I’m on a shared host and also have iThemes Security Pro installed. Do you think having both would be too much on the shared host?
    My resource stats in cPanel:
    Physical Storage 1024mb/1024mb
    Entry Processes 20/20
    Number of Processes 98/100
    I/O Usage 1MB/1MB/s

    Thoughts?

    Thanks, Alv

  • Interesting configuration, I will have to test the plugin in a server like that to give you a definitive answer. For now you can opt to disable some of the file system scanners, you can do this from the “Scanner Settings” panel located in the plugin’ settings page, also disable the unnecessary email alerts from the “Alert Settings” panel located in the same page.

I believe the problem is with the last resource, the limit in the I/O operations, because the space in the disk and processes are enough to allow the usage of this plugin. Considering that the file scanners execute multiple reads it would be a bottleneck in a server like that, but I have to test to be completely sure about it.

I will update this when I have more information.

After multiple tests in different servers I decided to consider this issue as resolved considering the way PHP works. If anyone else is having the same issues even with the latest version of the plugin then I suggest to do that I recommended in my previous comment “[…] disable some of the file system scanners”, you can do this from the “Scanner Settings” panel located in the plugin’ settings page.

By the way, most of the tests that I ran were in a virtual machine with less resources than the described in your comment @alvc and the plugin kept working correctly without affect much of the performance of the server (obviously with less traffic).

I will mark this thread as resolved, feel free to re-open anytime.
