• I included the search to work for custom fields and even specified the ones I need – repeater fields – about 20. And now the search is very very slow.

Is there anything I can do to include the custom fields I need and speed up the search?

    Hi,

Thank you for the details, it helps a lot!

I tried the search in the header, at the moment the performance seems to be all right on my end, measuring times around 0.5s, which is really good.

I assume the fields may not be selected at the moment or there might have been a server related issue only?

Anyways – it is very much possible to have slower performance when more fields are selected, especially when there is a lot of them and with a lot of content. It is hard to predict how much though, it mostly depends on how the server can handle the queries.

If the fields are not selected, then you should try adding some of them first, then test, and then systematically add more to see if that helps a bit.

    All the best,
    Ernest

I played took off all the other search options like search posts, categories etc and it helped with the speed, replace search theme etc

    Thanks
