slow upload

Hi all.
I am having the worst time with my CARDINAL theme.
Here is the issue. someone put the site together for me and it was great. I then hired someone for SEO and they decided it would be easier for me with a theme named HEADWAY.

In the midst of this all, I had to release Ms. Headway due to budget overload on my part. I went into my CARDINAL theme because she took all that she was working on with her and somehow I deleted all the images from one page. I created a huge 3000 pixel image without knowing how I did it and the site was running reeeeeeeeeeally slow.

Now, I have someone who is going to help, however, he cannot figure out how to get the site to run smoothly at this point. Most likely I may have to copy all my blog posts and start from scratch. IS THERE A WAY TO DO THAT. We are concerned that they will be lost. Additionally, I may have to go to a platform that is easier for me to handle. I guess this is 2 questions. 1. ANY IDEA ON A SLOW RUNNING SITE; and 2)HOW CAN I COPY ALL MY BLOG POSTS?
