My little site is loading VERY slow. Google tech support agrees. They have tested their server, changed my current theme (customizr) to default, turned off all plug-ins. Site still takes 20 to 30 seconds. They tried from various locations with essentially the same result.

I really do need some help please.

    Hi Wittig!

Your site loaded in 3.5 seconds for me with Firefox, 1.5 seconds with Chrome.

You can test which resources are taking a long time by using Firefox’s Firebug or Chrome’s Developer Tools.

This may look complicated at first glance, but it’s actually quite simple if you follow each step.

In Firefox, you will need to have the Firebug extension installed. Then you will see a drop-down menu that has a picture of a bug on it in your navigation bar.

Click on that, makes sure “On for all pages” is checked, then select the “Net” tab at the top of the Firebug window. Load your page in a Firefox tab, and the Net tab in Firebug will show you how long it takes to load each resource.

For Chrome, it is similar, but Developer Tools is already included.

Click on the Chrome menu in your nav bar (the three vertical lines) then select More tools>Developer tools. Click on the “Navigation” tab at the top of the Developer tools window and load your site in a new Chrome tab. You will get load time statistics there as well.

Hopefully this will help you determine where your slowdown is occurring.
