    Hi there,

My site is rather slow and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of how to speed it up. I have compressed all my images so I don’t think that is the issue.

One thing I noticed is that it makes a lot of calls to external services when loading- anyway to reduce that? I am not super technical but can do some messing around with code so any suggestions are appreciated!

    Thanks a lot,

    Chris

If you site is slow, and you know it is not due to the server, you may want to consider WP Super Cache or other performance related plugins.

Slow websites have several reasons. One being the amount of http requests that are executed by a visitor, a solution to minimize these is to deliver your images and css/js from a subdomain.

The other thing is that WP really isn’t made for speed, definitely check out a cache plugin. I use WP Super Cache.

Also: Ads, External Services, big pictures. All that stuff WILL slow down your site severely.
