• Hello,

I am having problems with websites hosted at one.com, they are all running very slowly. The problem is that the initial loading time of all of my one.com websites is usually longer then 10 or even 20 seconds.

When the page finally loads and you navigate between pages, loading times tend to be a lot faster.

    Some examples of websites I host at one.com;

    https://www.adambreit.be
    https://www.adampolitics.com
    https://www.antwerpdreamscene.com

I already contacted one.com, they always tell me they will “optimize the database” and I should try again in half an hour. The problem however, persists.

    What should I do?

    Greetings,
    Adam

PS: I have some other websites at another provider and they run fine, only that host doesn’t support some feats, like mod_rewrite.

  • Hi,
I wonder if the “optimize the database” is the same thing I like to do in PHPMyAdmin. If so, it’s very good to do, but if your hosting is really bad, that won’t even put a dent in it.

I’ve heard nothing good about one.com. It’s so tempting to cheap out buying hosting nowadays. And if your other host doesn’t allow mod_rewrite? Wow, that’s usually available even on crap hosts. Sorry to give bad news.

Who knows, maybe somebody else with experience at your host may have an idea. But I suspect it’s simply crap hosting.

    Well,

Changing webhost is a tedious task, I would like to explore all of my current options. What steps should I take before I contact one.com with a more stern tone? To make sure the problem isn’t on my side?

    Fresh WP install on all?

Funny thing is that I don’t even have traffic on these sites.

    Argh.

It is the same. It helps with a site with say more than 100 posts/pages. But does nothing for a bad host.

Just tell them you’re going to move to bluehost.com
