Slow Loading Site&Dash

  • I know this is so common, i have read so many yet i am yet to find a reason why.

    Last night my site was fine, woke up this morning to continue editing and its so slow, here is what ive doene;

    * Reset router and pc (thought it was my ISP)

    * Deleted my WHOLE directory and re-installed wordpress.

    * De-activated ALL my plug ins (the plug-ins consist of the two already installed ones you get once installing wordpress and the other is a cashe one that i see poeple use and it speeds up the proformance) again – ive disabled ALL these.

    * Tried multiple themes, all loads slowly.

    * Tried my site on a laptop, the laptop has the same problem.

    * Ive emailed my ISP encase its their problem (Host papa) – However ive come to the conclusion the actual DASHBOARD and wordpress services would still run fine the only thing that would be a problem if it was my ISP would be the loading of the site… however its the DASHBOARD & SITE thats got the problem. (any other website loads fine)

    * I’ve used Pingdom to test the speed and here is the results;

    Your website is slower than 95% of all tested websites;

    41.96 secs to load 158.5kb of data.

    Help ??

    Eeek! That’s slow. was there any improvement when you disabled all plugins and switched to Twenty Eleven?

    Did you try resetting the plugins folder by PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, it’s the only way to kill a rogue plugin.

    Thank you for the reply, no, the “41.96 secs to load 158.5kb of data.” is after i changed the theme… before that it was much longer over 1 min when i had my own theme on it.

    in regards to resetting via PHP-MYADMIN, no i have not, ill try that now and be back in touch, thanks again.

    There is no difference. ??

    Do you happen to know how much PHP memory is allocated to your site? If you don’t, try asking your hosts.

    I’ve changed NOTHING since i went to sleep (i did however install the WP app on my tablet and looked at how i can update posts when im mobile) – don’t know if that would make a difference… i have just checked my site provider and i think ive saw a problem;

    This never made a difference yesterday, also it says the update/maintainance work will not affect anything…

    PHP memory may not be unlimited. In fact, it rarely is. You’ll need to ask your hosts directly about it.

    Ah right – well the only thing left i will try is, deleting everything again, and installing wordpress manually rather than through fantastico which seems to be going under some kind of update.

    Can I ask if this is shared hosting or do you have your own server?

    I just bought a package from host pap includes the host, the domain name etc

    That sounds like a shared server – in which case PHP memory will definitely be limited. You may also be unlucky enough to be on an overloaded server which is simply struggling to cope. You could ask to be moved to another server.
