Ok, I’ve had WordPress running on my GoDaddy.com hosted server for years now with no problem. Suddenly, I’m getting load times of 20s to >60s on all WP pages (front end and admin). Non-WP pages on the server load at normal speeds, including an ExpressionEngine based page which pulls from the a SQL database. That leads me to believe it’s not a server or sql issue.

I have tried disabling ALL plugins and reverting back to a default theme. No luck. I upgraded all my plugins and upgraded my WordPress installation. No change. I enabled caching in my wp-config.php file. Nothing.

I’ve tested it on three different computers, four different browsers, two different networks and two different OS’s. Same slow result on all.

Also, Firebug shows that everything ON the page loads quickly. It’s actual page itself that is taking so long.

See Pingdom results to see what I’m talking about:

I’m having similar issues with web sites I’m developing on GoDaddy. Once it was proved to be a server issue but the loading times are never that fast. I visited your site dolphinsdock, used it and noticed it to be very fast. Can I ask if you have a solution to your previous question?

    thanks – dave bone

FYI: My sites on GoDaddy with WordPress and are very slow are https://selfdiscover.org and https://savemela.com (in progress)

I’d happily share the solution, but I don’t have one. Just suddenly started working at appropriate speeds again. I’m not sure why.

I agree; I’m having the same wave of issues. It goes anywhere from utterly CRASHING to totally working at optimum speed!! I was told because it’s a shared server, not DEDICATED, that its likely to waver.

But just like you, my site had been fine before then one day kaputz. I’m sure my issue was due to a spike in traffic, but still. I dont think it has to do with shared vs dedicated, and not worth upgrading to dedicated unless your site is a REAL top name site.

So I ran a diagnostic of my site with https://websiteoptimization.com and found that essentially I “had too much crap” on my site. I’ve since then upgraded from economy to Deluxe with GoDaddy, being told that would help the speed. It seems to help right now but it could be coincidence…

    Yup. pure coincidence.
