Slow initial page load, also on wp-login.php

    I’m experiencing the “slow initial page load” issue with WordPress which many users seem to have. On first load, TTFB takes about 8 to 9 seconds. After that everything will be very quick. From my research, people suggest to optimize the page, use a caching plugin, disable plugins one by one to find the culprit and so on.

    However, I noticed that the slow initial page load issue also happens when opening WordPress’ wp-login.php page. This is somewhat confusing me because when opening wp-login.php my website itself of course isn’t loaded at all but just WordPress’ login screen. So this means that all the tips listed above to solve the slow initial loading don’t really apply because the slow initial load also happens when my website isn’t loaded at all but just the login screen.

    So does the fact that the problem also occurs when just opening wp-login.php mean that the problem must be on my hoster’s side or how would you interpret this behaviour?

    Your website is loading ok. Remember those suggestions on the Google Pagespeed test are just suggestions, not the problems, You can’t fix all the suggestions sometimes. and this new FCP, TCP is hard to fix most of the time.

    I suggest using the GTMetix Legacy report to analyze your website report.

    Your website is loading ok

    But not for me. I have tested it using several different networks and I always get that 8 to 9 second delay on the first load. Maybe it’s only ok for you now because I’ve just loaded it here. As soon as nobody has opened it for a few hours, there will be the 8 to 9 seconds slow down again.

    I suggest you check on the different browsers(No extensions installed) then test on Gtmetrix and change the region and browser settings to see a different results. If there is any region problem in the connection you’ll find that in the results.
