    Hi,
my slimstat plugin doesn’t collect any data since the 4th of january. But I just discovered it yesterday (7th).

I updated Slimstat plugin first (without verifying immediately it was working well) and then WordPress from 4.4 to 4.4.1 a few hours later.

I have two sites (dev and prod): dev is working well, prod not (as far as slimstat is concerned!) with the same versions…!?

Could you please help me do make a diagnostic?

    Thanks for your help
    Pierre

    Hi,

can you check if Slimstat is returning an error under Settings > Maintenance?

    Thanks,

    Hi Camu,
there was a message but didn’t realize it was an effective error message and cleared it without writing it. And right now, nothing!
is there a way to get it elsewhre? in a file?

I just didn’t see a relation between the message and the fact that slimstat didn’t collect any data.

    Hi,

what is the URL of the production site? I might be able to run some tests.

    Pierre,

the tracker is returning an empty string. If you still don’t have any error messages under the Maintenance tab, you may want to check you web server’s error log or your MySQL log for clues.

    Thank you,

    Hi Camu,

I don’t have access directly to this logs because I am on a shared server. I have to contact my hosting company.

I tried to deactivate other WP Plugins. I believe there is a compatibility problem between WP Slimstat 4.2.4 and Wordfence Security 6.0.22 (last update 3 weeks ago). When Wordfence Security is deactivated, Slimstat collects data. When activated, nothing is collected.

As the installation is quite recent, I also tried to desinstall WP Slimstat and reinstall it (deleting all files and configuration) but it didn’t change anything.

I don’t understand why it works on, my dev site.

I try to get more logs.

    Thanks

WordFence has a setting to whitelist certain files and to allow access to admin-ajax.php, a WordPress file used to handle AJAX requests. WordFence, I believe, makes that file invisible by default, as it can be used to leverage vulnerabilities. However, Slimstat (in Client Mode) needs it to send the data about a pageview back to the server. Also, make sure to fine tune the caching feature available in WordFence.

    Best,
    Camu

    Hi Camu,
I just can’t find out what’s not working.
By the way I changed to Server Side Tracking and it works.
I will continue like that for the moment.
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, Server Mode only needs access to admin-ajax.php to record client-side information, like screen resolution, browser extensions installed and so on. However it might not work as expected if a caching plugin is installed.

    Best,
    Camu
