Slideshows on pages
-
I can think of a number of ways to do this, but was wondering what the best solution would be. Basically what I want to do is have a series of images that play on various pages of the website. I’d need to assign the photos via the admin. The slideshow is all setup on the front end and just needs the images to be assigned.
My initial thought was to have a slideshow post type. This solves the issue of how to get the images uploaded into the system. The only problem then is getting the images associated with the proper page. I know I could add a taxonomy to the post type, but that seems like a manual process, because the page names would need to be manually entered, rather than the linked from existing page names. A similar method would be to add a custom field with the page info. Again, these are slightly manual methods and I’m hoping to figure out a solution that is a little more automated so that the end-user won’t have to remember page ids/codes and whatnot.
Is there any way to add something like a taxonomy, but where it pulls from existing pages? That way when a Slideshow image is added, then they just select which page to assign it to and it links up accordingly? Or is there a better method for creating this type of functionality?
Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Wil
