• Hi,

My slideshows on both of my WordPress websites disappeared. I am guessing it has to do with the newest upgrade. The shortcode for it is still there as before. How do you suggest I can make them appear again?

    Thank you!!

What was the shortcode you were using?

For the slideshow to appear on the homepage, I have always used:

    [slideshow slideshowid=”main-slideshow (69)”]

Ok, that’s not a standard WordPress shortcode.

What plugin are you using to provide that functionality, or is it a feature of your theme?

It is part of the theme. Do you know if there is something I can alter to make it appear again? The person who made the theme does not reply to support questions.

Unfortunately, I don’t think so. There were some changes made to the shortcode API recently, which developers who paid attention during the month-long public beta of WordPress 4.4 noticed and fixed.

If your theme’s developer isn’t helping, perhaps it’s time for a new theme? It’s not too unreasonable to expect more things to break down the line.

Though every effort is made to maintain backwards compatibility, the WordPress developers do count on the few plugin/theme developers out there to test and fix their few products in the public betas (as opposed to the few volunteers WordPress developers having to test hundreds of thousands of plugins+themes themselves).

So, if you find yourself using a product from a developer who didn’t test/fix during the month-long public beta period, who still hasn’t tested/fixed in the month since 4.4’s release, and who won’t respond to your support requests, it’s probably time to move on to a different theme.

I really like the particular theme. Do you think I could hire a WordPress developer on a website like oDesk/upwork.com that could help fix these problems?

Also, if I install another slideshow plugin and use that, should that work?

What’s the name of the theme?

Also, there are definitely a lot of slideshow plugins, but more than likely you’d have to re-do all of your inserted slideshows, as I can’t find any that match that particular shortcode.

Thank you for looking. It is called Clinique and it is a nice medical theme: https://www.mojo-themes.com/item/clinique-clean-and-responsive-medical-theme/

I only have one slideshow, but I am hoping one can match the style. Do you think if I hired someone, the person could fix it using a more technical method?

So, I do see that one of the selling points they list is “Get Free On-Going Support.”

Have you tried the Support tab below the screenshot of the theme at that URL?

If you do want to hire someone, please try https://jobs.wordpress.net/ or https://directory.codepoet.com/ and do not accept any hire or direct access offers posted to these forums.

Yes, but he has not replied to anyone in around a year, and contacting Mojo’s general support did not help the situation.

Thank you for your effort and help!

    You’re welcome!
