• Since the last updates – some plugins and my theme pinboard –
    my slider in the wide widget area (located under the header)
    won`t load any of the pictures of the saved slideshow.

    I did not change anything at the slideshow.

    trying other plugins with slides showed the same effect: they seem not to be able to load any images of the therefor newly built slidshow.

    I allready have deleted the plugin and reinstalled it. But no change. I also replaced the WP folders with folders from a 5 days old backup from my hoster/provider of webspace.

    Because I can not let the website be shown this way (a blank field with the rotating loading circle) I put links to three images of the media library in a textwidget. These Images – one next to the other – now look nearly like one of the former slides (with 3 images per slide). But this isn’t what I want to be shown. Because now there is now movement on the site. (www.verfuehrendes.de)

    I also tryed to embedd my old slideshow with the code snippet in the header going to the header-file of my child-theme. This didn’t work either.

    I will be very pleased if this problem can be solved somehow.

  • Hi have you tried enabling debug mode in your website? This would allow you to pin point the issue. Here is a plugin you can use to help you.

    @ mbrsolutions Thank you for the answer.

    I tried the debugging plugin and now have a debug logfile – it`s in german so I don’t post it here:

    The main information given there ist that the construction method for widget ist outdated since WordPress version 4.3.0

    Instead it says I should use:

    __construct()

    Also it says that register_sidebar has been addressed incorrectly and in the parameter array there isn’t any id defined for the sidebar “Wide”.
    Standard figure therefor would be “sidebar-8”. The debugging text says that this notice can be removed and the existing content of the sidbar can be kept by setting id manually on “sidebar-8”

    (With all the other sidebars the message is the same only the numbers change.)

    Now my question: where can I make the changes manually? In which files do I have to make the proposed changes? 1. concerning the construction method:

    __construct()

    and 2. concerning the id of the sidebars

    An answer really would be great!

    Hi, are those error messages in the debug log file referring to this plugin, your theme or other?

    @ mrbrsolution:

    I don’t really know the answer to your question. Because the different widget areas are named there I assume that the theme may be concerned.

    I just let run the debugging plugin – and then three things happend: 1. everywhere on my screen the text concerning the errors where shown

    2. my dashboard was not accessable anymore

    When I replaced the wpconfig file with the old one I saved before the execution of the debugging plugin everthing looked as before and I could find a logfile under the existing point in the plugin menu.

    If the theme may be concerned and not the Slider plugin: Do you have an idea where I can make the changes that are required?

    Thank you for the help!

    Hi if the problem is your theme, can you contact the theme developers? What you could do is test one of WordPress default themes like Twenty Fourteen or Fifteen? That will let you know if it is your current theme causing the problem.
