    Hey All,

I tried out a theme called Sight (by WPShower) and it has a great slideshow feature that displays sticky posts and featured images etc. I demoed this on my old wordpress site and it worked fine, but when I installed the newest version on my own site, the slider function does not appear at all.

    See Sites:

    vs.

I did some research on the forums and it seems like a similar issue has dogged this theme through the updates. Many threads were old and fixes directed me to area that no longer existed. Does anyone know how to get the slider to show up??

If its a simple fix, call me an idiot and I’ll still thank you… I just want the damn slideshow to work.

The posts do not appear with an option to set them as “sticky” at all. I installed a plug-in to accomplish this and have multiple posts with featured images marked as sticky, but still no slideshow.

    Help me WordPress Geniuses!

    hey there!

i see the difference you mention between the two sites.

on the site that was not showing a slider i opened up the chrome inspector (F12 – what browser are you in? most of themhave a similar tool) and saw a few errors.

as this appears to be related to the theme, i’d suspect the issue is in this referenced file not being available:

    https://www.vincentnola.com/wp-content/plugins/home1/vinceoi3/public_html/wp-content/themes/sight-wpcom/sight.css?ver=20120829

    which has a 404

i can see from this that it appears to have a path issue. have you per chance altered the css of theme files between the working and non-working version of the site?

i suspect that if that css file loads correctly we’ll at least get a region where the slideshow would appear

Hey thanks for the response! I have not altered any of the CSS code between the two sites.

When I installed the site originally this error was immediate, as it was the first thing I noticed after activating the theme.

I did some tinkering in the header.php and replaced a few code items, but when they did not make any difference, I changed them back to the way they were. The edits were suggested fixes from past versions and other alterations (such as slideshow on every page) but nothing I tried caused the slideshow to appear on any page at all, let along the header.

Right now, everything is back to the way it was, as far as I know. But then, I do not know much about coding.

I see that the link you provided leads to the 404 error. What else does this tell you about the broken code? What else can I tell you to help?

    Thanks for the effort!

    no problem! sorry no

this link tells us that we only have more questions really ??

notice how it starts to get weird in the path at the plugins?

can you please double check what happens when all plugins are disabled? (meaning whether or not we still get the path issue or not) and whether or not you can tags posts as sticky

    let us know! good luck!

I disabled all plug-ins (including Jetpack) and tried to load the site, nothing happened or changed.

I had to download an additional plug-in called “WP-Sticky” in order to see the option to designate a post as “sticky”. On the wordpress site, this option appears on the right side under “advanced settings”. The entire “advanced settings” box is absent from the self-hosted site as well.

When you say the path gets “weird” at the plugins, what exactly do you mean? Someone else I asked told me it looked like the code was making references to items that are in different locations in the updated version, and the theme/code needs to be updated. Perhaps it is only a matter of time.

Let me know your most current thoughts, and thanks for the help!!!
