Slideshow doesn't show, white box.

There are some JavaScript errors that are breaking the slideshow, check out the console tab in a web inspector.

This is probably a plugin conflict, try deactivating the Awesome Flickr Gallery plugin, that’s were the script errors are coming from. If that doesn’t work deactivate the other plugins and keep testing the slideshow to narrow down the problem.

is there a way to alter the sequence of the slideshows or make one start a little after the other so theyre not all changing simultaneously?

Yes, you can change the duration of a specific slideshow using metadata. So you could change the speeds to make some slower than others, or add a delay, take a look at the full slideshow options for more info.
