I installed the Smart Slider. I created a new project and added two slides. The slider is published. I added the shortcode

    [smartslider3 slider=”2″]

The page shows two slides at the moment with huge gaps between them. I intend to add more slides, but I need to narrow the gap between them. And I also need to add arrows to the right and left so that users can click on them if they need to see the next slide or go back to the first one. Arrows are enabled, I can’t see them on the page.

Sorry, I need to add another thing: I tried to position the Heading in the slide higher to to the top, but it doesn’t do anything. I would have to use the CSS for that and other elements in the slide. Is this the only possibility? Many thanks. I hope you can help.

    Hi @mica123

The page shows two slides at the moment with huge gaps between them.

Did you actually mean this gap between 2 sliders? If you do, then gaps between sliders are typically created by page builders, as the container elements – where you published the sliders – can have some default padding set. So in the first place I would suggest you to check the container in the page builder.

    Arrows won’t show up:

I find it possible that you choose a Outer left and Outer right position for the arrows, so they will appear outside of the slider’s area, and maybe your container hides the overflowing parts. You should try Tthe inner middle positions for both the previous and next position settings. ( The options called Middle Left and Middle Right – https://smartslider.helpscoutdocs.com/article/1782-arrow#image )

Positioning layers to the top of a slide:

You can position layers vertically by using the “Vertical Align” setting of the containers, such as the Content layer:

and the Column ( of a Row ):

So e.g. to display the contents of a slide to the top, you should set the “Vertical Align” setting to “Top”. If you are not familiar with these settings, then we have a tutorial video for this topic, that you can find here:

In that case if you still have issues even after tying these, then please export your slider:

then get in touch with us directly over the ticket system:

and send us the slider export there.

    Best regards,
    Laszlo.

Thank you very much, Laszlo. I will go through your instructions. But I hasten to say that I meant the gap between two slides, not sliders. The slides should be in the same row. I set up the same width and height for each slide. I use a blank WordPress page with nothing on it. I just insert a block with the short code.

    Thanks.

That’s strange, as normally the free version of our slider includes only the Simple and the Block slider types . These can display only 1 slide at a time.

Is it possible that you are a Pro user, and you used e.g. the Carousel slider type – which is capable of displaying multiple slides side by side? If this is the case, then please note that, as per the forum guidelines:

we are not allowed to discuss this query here. But we can continue this topic in the ticket system and there I will give you tips that could help you in reducing the gap between the slides of that slider type.
