About a week ago the sliders stopped working. Only one image was showing and no arrows, but the lightbox effect was working if you clicked on the image.

I logged into the backend today (using Divi theme) and created a new slide with a different them. It worked in preview, added it to the page and it was there! Made a second slideshow, added it to the page, refreshed the page and aren’t able to see this one or the other new one. When I go into developer tools, they appear….I haven’t a clue why they appear when I’m in developer tools and not normally.

The error I see in the tools is this:
Uncaught TypeError: n.substr is not a function
    at c (jquery.nivo.slider.pack.js?ver=3.10.3:1)
    at new i (jquery.nivo.slider.pack.js?ver=3.10.3:1)

I changed from Nivo slider to flex based on that error and images are now appearing, but no slider. No errors for the slider now appear in developer tools. I also rolled back to a previous version of Divi, the version I was on when I began building the site (today I had updated it to the newest version hoping it would resolve the slider issues). Rolling back Divi did not resolve the issue either.

    Hi @tlc22382,

Can you enable arrows on the slideshows just to test if they work?

Does the slideshow work in the preview area on the settings page?

Can you add one slideshow to a separate test page to see if that works in isolation?

I am having the same error on this page: https://www.mobiler-fahrrad-service.at/?page_id=859

When using Flexslider, the arrows and dot navigation do not display even when enabled. The “Print JS” and “Print CSS” are turned on, but the CSS and JS files do not load – they don’t show up in the Network panel in the developer tools. There are no error messages in the console.

    Hi @bensibley,

Always best to open your own issue so it doesn’t notify other users, and often the solutions are not the same. If you need to follow up can you open a new issue? Thanks.

Since the assets aren’t loading, it indicated there’s a PHP error that is stopping the code from executing at some point.

Check that it works in the preview on the settings page.

Can you enable debugging in wp-config.php to see if PHP shows any fatal errors.

Can you disable plugins to see if that solves it? If not, it would likely be code in your theme. But let me know how far you get (in a new post:)

Today there was, hope I got it correct, the second Meta Slider update. Nothing changed – none of the Meta Slider “pic shows” is working on my site. Do you have any idea when this issue will be solved?

    Cheers,

    Simon

    Hi @mobilerfahrradservice,

Always best to open your own issue so it doesn’t notify other users, and often the solutions are not the same. Please open a new issue if you need to follow up (and provide a URL if possible).

Usually if no images are showing at all it indicates your site has a fatal PHP error that is stopping the execution of the code that loads the images. The best way to debug this is to deactivate plugins one by one until you find the plugin that breaks everything.

I’ll mark this issue as resolved. Please open new issues if there’s a follow up. Thanks.

    Hi @kbat82,

I will open a new issue.
There is no PHP error and @bensibley also had a deeper look at it. Since the Gutenberg update there is somehting wrong and hopefully there is a solution soon.

    Cheers,

    Simon
