Add this to your child theme’s functions.php. Do change the font size to suit your needs.

It does not work.

I just tried Menaka’s code.
It works properly.

Did you add them in your child theme’s functions.php?
Do you have a cache plugin activated or Server cache?
You will need to clear those cache content in order for your customization to update on front end.

Any idea why it is not working for us?

We tried on different site, still does not work.

Just a few basic checks.

Have you activated the child theme?
Is the other bit of code in the child theme’s functions.php working?
Have you tried checking after disabling all plugins?

Yes child theme activated.
Yes it is working.
I have not tried deactivating plugins.

We deactivated all 4 plugins, still not working.

As you say that the other bit of code in functions.php is working, we can infer that there is no issue in accessing this file.

The next check is to add this bit of code to see what happens. Please temporarily comment out the bit or code given earlier and add this.
