Slider thumbnails incorrect size

I have added thumbnails to a slider, but the 3 thumbnails images are much wider than the slider width, so not sized to line up with the slider width.
The slider is sized at 500x375px
Each image full size in the Media library is 1000px x 750px.
The 3 thumbnails are each 196px wide, and the image container (easingslider-wrapper) as checked in Chrome INspector the has a width of 1176px, much wider than the max-width of 500px set on the slider itself.
Is there a fix on the way for this please.
