I am using this theme on my site and the slider shows only one image but has two overlapping story title/descriptions. How do I fix this?
Also is there a way to only show a couple of the recent posts below the slider, not all of them?

  • have you installed the advanced custom fields plugin ?

I set “2” for “Autoplay speed in seconds” if that’s what you mean. I figured that meant the speed at which the slides change. Does the “effect” setting matter?

Yes I have installed the advances custom fields plugin.

    (responded to your e-mail btw)

i have mine set to 0, not sure if that makes any difference

Tried that and it didn’t change anything….ugh.
Can you send a link to your site so I can see what it’s supposed to look like?

    Thanks. That works nice.

I wonder if I should uninstall the theme then reinstall it…maybe it’s a bug with the theme. But would I lose all my settings?

i do not know if you would lose your data.

    will send you another email

@toniavery Your site looks pretty good to me. I don’t seen any overlapping titles or descriptions so I’m not sure if you are still having trouble?

Regarding advertising…the theme doesn’t have any native ad management features, but you can of course customize any template you like to add a banner.

Hi Phillip, thanks for the reply.

I just added another post as “sticky” to show you what the issue is with the slider. Please take another look.

How do I go about customizing the template to add a banner?

    (@wpsimplyread)

Hmm, that’s very odd. Are you using any plugins? One thing you could try is to disable all plugins and see if that ‘fixes’ the problem. If it does then you know you have a theme clash…enable the plugins again one by one to isolate the clash.

Also, what are your slider settings under Appearance > Customize > Slider?

How to add banner code depends on where and what kind of banner you want to add to the theme. If you want it in the header then you’ll need to add your banner code to the header.php template. Keep in mind though you must always set up your theme as a child theme before making any template customization so that future updates do not overwrite your local changes.

I think the plugin thing worked!!!

What does Autoplay Speed do? Does it refer to the speed in which the slides change?

    Theme Author Phillip

    (@wpsimplyread)

Yes, the Autoplay Speed setting controls the number of seconds before the slider moves on.

Now my widgets have gone away. I was using Facebook, E-mail Sign-up and Twitter. Is that through one of the plugins? What happened?

    Theme Author Phillip

    (@wpsimplyread)

Did you have any special Twitter, Facebook and/or Email signup form plugins installed? Have you tried enabling your plugins again one by one to isolate the one which caused the problem with the slider?

    (@toniavery)

I just reinstalled all the plugins I uninstalled and the slider is fine but the widgets are gone. So uninstalling them fixed the slider but when I reinstalled all of them again the slider still stayed perfect but the widgets are gone.
    What could it be?
Also, now I have a banner on the top of my dashbord that says: “Your site is currently displaying a “Coming Soon” page. Once you are ready to launch your site click here.” Where did that come from?
