Slider not working when displaying latest post

Hi: I noticed that the Slider is not working for me when displaying the latest post in the front page. Is this the way it suppose to work or is there something wrong?

Also the slider is forcing me to select a page with “Front Page with slider template” in order to show the slider, however when I select that template the content of the page disappear, only a page with the slider is showing. Sorry, I don’t understand how this work. I want the buttons in the slider be pointing to a specific page/url in my site not to the main site page all the time.

Did someone find a way around this?
