Slider not working on static front page

Hi everyone,

I’m using the graphene theme and I really like the jQuery slider feature they have. However, I’m building a CMS site with many pages/posts, and I would like to use a static front page, and it’s really disappointing to find that the slider doesn’t work on it. When I change it to a static page, the slider area IS there, but area is blank.

One more than, on the front page, since I chose a static page, it has the “home-name” header bar, which I would like to hide as well.
