Slider Not Displayed in Internet Explorer 8

I was really pleased with this plugin after having problems with other “responsive” sliders. Today my client said the sliders weren’t showing up on all three pages on which they’re installed.
On my main computer running Linux they all work fine in Firefox and Chrome. However, on my ancient laptop running Win XP, they misbehave in Internet Explorer 8.
Another user seems to be experiencing the same problem. I’m beginning to hate the word “responsive.” ??
