Full Width Slider Image Sizes

Hello,

I am trying to find out what the best full width slider image size should be inc ppi for my banner image at the top of my homepage using wordpress, my laptop screen is 1366×768 and my image is 1280×720 with a dpi of 96. My worry is will it stretch on wider monitors? The current image has been cropped and it doesn’t look great. Also does anybody use 300ppi images for webdesign?
