Slider and widget area no-shows

    Hi.

    I’m trying to create a trial website with the Lite version of the theme, to possibly use the full one in the future. Unfortunately though, I am having a couple of key issues. I’m developing it on a local host, so there isn’t unfortunately any link available for me to send to you.

    Firstly, with the theme installed, there seems to be no reference at all to the top slider, with the images and overlay text. I have installed the recommended plugins but there is still nowhere to create the slider. Please could you help me work out how to go about creating the slider?

    Also, the widget area below the slider, where I would expect to house the contact information and Fontawesome icons just currently shows the page title. I have been into Appearance > Widgets and added widgets to the left/centre/right (below slider) widget areas, but it doesn’t update in the website preview. It still just shows the page title. Please could you explain what is going wrong, and how I can fix it?

  • Did you check the Customizer? Slider and widgets are managed through the WordPress Customizer, once you have installed both the theme and the companion plug-in.

    Thanks for contacting us!

    Make sure you have assigned the “Home Page” template to the home page.
    Refer to the screenshot.

    And you can manage the slider and widgets from the customizer after activating the “Webriti Companion” plugin. See this screenshot.

    When I am checking at my end in the localhost with the theme version 2.8.3 and plugin version 1.7.2, all is working fine.

    Thanks for the reply! At the moment, I am using theme version 2.8.3 and the plugin version 1.7.2 as well.

    From what has been said, the home page template is already assigned to the home page. When I go onto the widgets area of the customiser, this is the message i get:

    “Your theme has 3 other widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them.”

    I’m not sure why that is happening. Please could you help me with that? The message shows up on all of my pages, not just the homepage. Could this be why I have no way of adding the slider or contact info sections to the home page?

    It’s worth noting that the only widget areas available on my customiser are the sidebar and footer (which both work fine to be fair).

    This will happen when you are using different template other than HomePage to the page which you are viewing in customizer. Check the screenshot https://tinyurl.com/yy6nxx99

    Thanks again for your reply. I’ve just checked and you’re right. It seems that I had created a second ‘home’ page and set that one to be the actual home page, so the template content for that page was missing. It’s there now that I have set the right home page. Thanks!
