• Hey there,

just another problem that i just caught. At 1200×800 the slider is perfect, when scaling down to say iPhone resolution everything is perfect but when i test it on 1080p resolution the image gets really cut off so you just see the top part of it. i tried everything to get rid of it. using a 1920×500 image works for the big resolution but not for the smaller, there will be white spaces on top and bottom .. i hope there is a solution to this. I would edit the php if someone has a idea but for now the only option would be to crop the images more at the bottom … i dont know why the slider is so designed that it scales from the bigger to smaller images automatically .. https://www.emotionsphotography.de there you can hava a look what i mean

    ————–EDIT

quick fix what i did is to set the slider height something more than 500 .. helps with the bigger resolutions but the smaller now worse

Hello, I am looking for help on one problem with the slider:

It doesn’t look like other sites build with this theme… the padding (white space) around my slider pictures is very wide. I have tried many different pictures, settings and created new sliders – but they all come out like this. There is about an extra inch above and below the slider.

Any help would be appreciated, Thank you. The site I am building with this issue is here:

Hi cpdjustice. I downloaded one of your slider images and it looks just like it does in the slider. It’s 1602 x 398px and there was no part of the image which wasn’t visible on screen. If you want a deeper slider you will need to feed it deeper images. The developer’s recommendation is 1200 x 500px for a full-width slider – and that should give you the depth you want.

But be careful what you wish for. You may have hit upon a magic formula because your 1602 x 398px images scale almost perfectly as the viewport gets smaller – I can see the whole image whether viewing in laptop, tablet or phone windows…and I certainly don’t enjoy that level of graceful responsiveness with my 1200 x 500px full-width slider.

So while you experiment with 500px deep images, I will be experimenting with 1602px wide images and variations thereon.

thank you so much Chappie for the tip. i am new to wordpress – only been playing with it for three days. I now recall the 1200 x 500 being mentioned in a tutorial I watched. I tried it and yes, if I use a picture at least 1200 wide, I do get the look I wanted. Glad I accidentally stumbled upon a size that might work for you. ?? Now I am not sure which size would be better to use.
    Thanks again.

No magic formula sadly. Your 1602 x 398 scales nicely but the trade-off is a lump of white space between the image and the navbar.

The recommended 1200 x500 eliminates the white space (except in small viewports) but doesn’t scale so gracefully since the image gets cropped at top and/or bottom to one degree or another at most viewport sizes (making it prudent to allow for this when framing the original image, ie keep the main subject away from the top/bottom so that the cropping doesn’t make the image look ugly).

I have experimented with many different sizes but, imho, they all introduce white space between the slider and the navbar which I find more distracting than the image cropping I get with the recommended 1200 x 500 size, hence I am sticking with the 1200.

There is a sensational new Snippet which makes the menu sticky as the page is vertically scrolled but at the proposed carousel paddings, it plays havoc with the slider in small viewports – so anyone testing different slider image sizes should probably do so without the sticky menu code.

Please check out my page, Artdefined.org. I just can’t get the sliders right! I changed all the latest photos i added to 1170×500 as suggested on the page and it looks super weird now and whenever I delete a picture from a slide, it goes away but leaves an annoying blank screen during the slide show. The last few slide is the ones i’m having a problem with. Please help!
