Slaty Stain Theme Links Placement

I’ve just installed the slaty stain theme. All works well except 2 things I’m stuck on. I am familiar with how to use the admin panel to add links. So I do, they don’t show up anywhere, even if I create link categories. There is a links.php template, I tried putting link code in there but none show up. That template contains code that says “call links” hmm…

Also, I’d like to put links just under the header image so they go from left to right just under it but I cannot see where to put the linking code, which template. Can someone help me with these two things who’s used this theme? I did email the theme author, haven’t heard back. THANK you! My url is https://www.resmerized.com so you can see what I mean.
