Slashes wrongly added in Custom Fields

Hello, I use Custom Fields and I post the values of the fields on my site. Every time I hit “Save and Continue Editing”, WP adds a bunch of slashes in the value of the custom field, especially anywhere I put a quote-mark or apostrophe. What’s wrong, and how do I fix this?

I remember a plugin for WP 2.0.3 that claimed to fix a problem with slashes, does that work with WP 2.0.5?

Has this error been submitted as a bug? I have never used the Bug Trac thing, should I report this?

EXAMPLE:
I have the custom field key “TREVOR SAID”
I entered the value: Trevor: “These next few songs come from the I-Ching. I don’t know if that’s gonna help you guys at all. It’s called the Middle Son.”

WordPress prints it like this,
Trevor solo 1-12-2004: \\\”These next few songs come from the I Ching. I don\\\’t know if that\\\’s gonna help you guys at all. It\\\’s called the Middle Son.\\\”
