Skype for Business ID

You can add text box filed instead of dedicated Skype field and name it Skype id this will fix your issue.

Sure I can, but the idea is that a user is redirect to his/her Skype account when he/she clicks the Skype ID in my profile. That will not be the case with a normal text field.
