sku problem in bookstore

Hello and do not be tired. We are a bookstore and we want to use this plugin for Iman face-to-face sales. We put the ISBN books in the products sku field. Every year, when a new edition comes for each book, we have to update the prices of the products, and naturally in the first 6 months of that year, we sell both the old edition and the new edition. We have encountered the problem that because the ISBN of books in the old and new editions is the same, we can not create a new product for it or change the product because if the ISBN is the same, WooCommerce will not allow two ISBNs. And we can not do for it ISBN because the scan of all our products is with ISBN, and then the problem will be bigger. Thanks.
