    Hello!
I’m setting up a store with WooCommerce, and I find a problem with the SKU. I have checked and the block is not there, changing the theme solves the problem. I have asked the theme support before and they say that it is not the theme (twenty twentyfour)

    • All wordpress components are updated to the latest version (WP 6.4.2 WC 8.5.1 PHP 8.2.9)
    • If I enter the SKU in the inventory table it is displayed correctly on the front
    • If I enter the SKU in the variables (leaving the general inventory empty) it is not displayed on the front. And when switching between variations on the front, the SKU is not displayed.
    • Whenever (in a variable product) the SKU is empty in the inventory tab, it does not show the SKUs of the variables on the front. If we add the SKU in the inventory tab, the different SKUs are shown on the front when changing between variations.
Is it a bug in the theme, plugin or that I have configured something wrong?
      Thank you

  • Hi @jmagtags,

Thank you for contacting WooCommerce Plugin Support. I understand you are having trouble with the SKU display on your variable products.

By default, WooCommerce should show the SKU of the parent product when no variation is selected, and the SKU of the selected variation when a variation is chosen. However, some themes or plugins may interfere with this behavior and cause the SKU to not show up correctly.

To determine what’s causing the issue, please try the following steps:

    • Temporarily switch your theme back to Storefront or any default WordPress theme and see if the SKU shows up as expected. If it does, then the problem is with your current theme and you may need to contact the theme developer for support.
    • If switching the theme does not help, then temporarily deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and see if the SKU shows up as expected. If it does, then the problem is with one of the plugins and you may need to activate them one by one to find the culprit and contact the plugin developer for support.
    • If none of the above steps help, then you may need to check your WooCommerce settings and make sure that you have entered the SKU for both the parent product and the variations. You can also try to regenerate the product lookup tables by going to WooCommerce > Status > Tools and clicking on the Regenerate button next to Product lookup tables.

If the issue persists, please share with us the System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support. You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

I hope this helps you resolve the issue and display the SKU on your variable products. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
