Hello, I am using WordPress on the Bluehost site, and just installed the very nice “Zoomify embed for WP” plugin. I had purchased the “PRO” version of Zoomify, and installed the PRO version of the .js file when installing the plugin on WordPress, as prompted.

I used a shortcode to display my image, and although I could see the image and move around and zoom, I would always get the message “Skin XML invalid” when displaying the image.

I discovered that the skinFiles.xml under the assets/Default/Skins folder which the plugin installed was different from the one in the similar folder that I downloaded from Zoomify after my PRO purchase. So, I replaced that single skinFiles.xml file with my version that I just downloaded (two days ago), and now the error message no longer appears.

So, that solved that problem. However, I cannot seem to make the Dark or Light skins work, or the Zoom level. Those are minor inconveniences, though. Perhaps I am formatting the shortcode incorrectly?

    [zoomify file=”https://box5210.temp.domains/~redeftma/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/TextZoomB.zif” skin=”Dark” zoomlevel=200]

When I use that shortcode, I always just get the Default skin at 100 zoom.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS PLUG-IN!! It is great!

    Hi there,

Thanks for using the plugin! I will look into the dark skin setting and give you feedback on that tomorrow. For the zoomlevel, you cannot set the zoomlevel beyond 100. If you need to zoom in to greater detail, you need a higher resolution base image to start with. This is how Zoomify works under the hood.

    Hello, Sander.
Thank you for replying. I was not aware of what zoom level 100 corresponded to. But, I have tried zoom level 10, and 50, and 100, and see no difference between any of the settings.

Did you understand in my previous post that I had to replace your XML file with the new one I just received from my Zoomify purchase?

Thank you again for a great plug-in, Sander.

By the way, my files are very large, if that matters, and also they are very wide and narrow (72000 pixels wide, 14400 pixels tall).

Thanks again for looking into this, Sander.

Hi and sorry for the late reply!

I understand the issue here. By default, the plugin itself has three Skin folders (Default, Light and Dark). If you use the option like skin=”Dark”, the plugin will look into it’s own directory. I can see how this can be a burden if you want to include your own Skinfiles, which can be uploaded to another directory on your website, perhaps in wp-content/uploads.

I’m working on an update right now where you can either use the default Default, Light and Dark options (which uses the included skins by the plugin), or you can just specify the entire URL to your skins folder, for example skin='https://www.yourawesomewebsite.com/wp-content/uploads/zoomify/skins/MyNewSkin'

This provides you with some extra flexibility without the need to override files in the plugin folder.

The update will be ready later today.

    Regards,
    Sander
