Skimlikns "wp_footer()"

I simply cannot get skimlinks working. I have tried the Java method, I even added the wp_footer() to by footer before the close of the body…most of all the plugin does not work at all.
My theme is pinboard v1.1.0 and I am completely out of ideas.
