Sketch Theme – Before Basics…HELP

  • Hello,

    I have joined WordPress in Jan and have been desperately trying to set up a very simple home page to feature my work. I have spent many hours trying and printed out endless pages of instructions in hopes of basically duplicating the Sketch Theme.Home page with simple slider ,a few pages of photos,blog,contact and about me pages. I thought it would be relatively simple but sadly I am finding that even the basic instructions assume that I know what to do as far as organizing the building blocks of my information/ photos..like Where to put them? In what format do things need to be ( pages or posts ? to achieve the desired functioning result ? How do I link all these things ? I have only managed to set up the most basic header and the menu titles that I want.
    It is never clear to me whether I need to set up Pages or Posts for example in trying to get the slider to work. Now there is another item in the mix -Portfolio
    I believe I followed the instruction under Featured Content and now I am struggling to get to grips with this Portfolio feature.
    If someone could break down the process to its most basic of How to get the Slider to work- Assume I know very little other than where navigate from and maybe that would help me to understand the logic to the process.

    This is a very good question, and it’s something that varies from theme to theme.

    In Sketch, you can add any combination of pages, posts or portfolio items to the slider, so it’s flexible in that way.

    It looks like you’re not currently using WordPress for your site so I’m sorry that I didn’t get to your question in time, but I’m glad you found a system that’s working for you.
