Sizing widget for only 2 columns

I figured out how to get the widget area where I wanted, which is just under the header and menu, but how do you size it down and position it? I want it to be over just the many body of posts and the right sidebar. Someone had programmed it that way for me, but when I did updates, it deactivated it. I’m trying to figure out how to do it myself. Also, what code do I need to take out the extra space above and below the widget area? Here is the link to my site. https://octx.info/
As you can see, part of the ad in the widget is not visible that is behind the left column.
