%%sitename%% still popping up in Google

Try these tricks I use

a) resubmit your sitemap
b) change your sitemap from 1000 pages to 900 in Yoast
c) make minor edit to the page(s) in question and resave

Yoast does not “control” how Google lists pages, only “hints” them. So, it’s entirely up to Google to do anything at all – you cannot “force” them to do anything, so it’s more about “tricking” their ‘bots to update their cached copies.

I indeed edit my post title multiple times before i publish it. Does is have anything to do with this?

Yes, resubmit sitemap to Google if you want to update Google reading your pages.

Update the ‘stuck’ posts to have a new ‘updated’ date.

Generally you don’t change titles after posting/publication.

But simply changing a parargaph or something slightly will update the page overall.

But try the sitemap tricks first then wait a week.

There are three important questions to ask when the titles don’t match to determine where the issue lies.

As far as i can see, A en B match.

I also did again fetch it, and it also gave the right titles. I didnt update the file recently.

So it looks like Google dont like some of my titles and adds my website to the end of some of my articles. This sucks, because i lose some characters here. Is that the right conclusion? And why is this? Most articles are just fine.

Google’s cache confirms they received the preferred title and they decide not to use it so, unfortunately, the why behind the decision may not be easy to find. You could try Google’s support forum and see if a Google rep has more insight into why this particular heading isn’t being accepted.

However, the best advice I can provide is to try different titles until you find one that Google accepts. This article provides advice on crafting good titles for SEO.
