Sitemap XML + WPML

    Hi there,

    I have AIO SEO v.4.1.8 running on my multi language website (WPML – 2 languages).
    The website was added to google search console and bing webmaster tools 3 weeks ago.

    But in GSC, only french pages are indexed.
    and in BWT, only english pages are indexed.

    I’m mostly concerned about indexing the french pages in Bing.
    If I use URL inspector for all french pages, I have the message “Discovered but not analysed”.

    So I looked over all recommandations from Bing, and all seems to be good except for the sitemap.

    In my XML sitemap, I do not have any <xhtml:link> tag.
    Here’s a example of URL in sitemap :

    I see in changelog that improvements were made about sitemap+WPML in 4.2.2 version.

    Can you please confirm my issue is concerned by this update ?
    Also, do you think that my problem with french pages not indexed by bing is relative to this sitemap issue ?

    Hey @zougou,

    We made significant improvements to our multilingual sitemap in 4.2.2, but I can’t tell whether that would fix this specific issue since every multilingual site is different. However, 4.2.2 is a major improvement over the code that’s in 4.1.8 so I would definitely update either way and then wait a while before checking GSC and BWT again.

    If you have 2 languages, then the sitemap should be listing the translated versions using an <xhtml:link> tag, like you mentioned. I assume 4.2.2 will fix this but if it still doesn’t work properly, let us know and we’ll be happy to look into this further with you.

    I just did the update to 4.2.2, and this fixed my sitemap problem.
    I have now <xhtml:link> tags ??

    I’m just wondering why I have PHP warnings (in Last updated column) in these urls :
    – mydomain.com/fr/sitemap.xml
    – mydomain.com/en/sitemap.xml

    Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in /.../all-in-one-seo-pack/app/Common/Views/sitemap/xsl/default.php on line 410

    Is this something I should worry about ?

    If I go to URL mydomain.com/sitemap.xml => sitemap ok

    @zougou I’m glad to hear it’s working now!

    You can safely ignore those PHP errors. We probably already have an issue for these warnings. They do not affect your sitemap at all; they are thrown when the stylesheet for your sitemap is loaded, which is something search engines don’t care about.

    I’ll wait some weeks to see if with this new sitemap will fix my problem with french pages not being indexed in Bing.

    Hi,

    I just want to confirm that the new sitemap with <xhtml:link> solved my problem.
    French pages are now indexed by Bing ??
