  • Hi @maaaartin,

    Whereas the XML Sitemap should dynamically update after any modification to it, if the site or server is caching the sitemap this can cause it to not update right away. We understand you’ve already confirmed the server cache. We also have additional information on this at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/sitemap-does-not-update/.

    If you are still experiencing an issue with the sitemap not updating after checking your caching settings, you can also force a cache reset by temporarily disabling the sitemap feature, and then re-enabling. To do so please perform the following steps:

    In WordPress go to SEO>General>Features

    1. For ‘XML Sitemaps’ Toggle the switch to ‘Disabled.’
    2. Click ‘Save Changes.’
    3. Toggle the switch back to ‘Enabled.’
    4. Click ‘Save Changes.’

    We also have a guide on how to enable/disable XML Sitemaps here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/enable-xml-sitemaps-in-the-wordpress-seo-plugin/

    Also, try updating the permalink settings and see if the issue resolve.

    Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and letting us know whether it resolves your issue and you are able to successfully update the sitemap?

    Thanks for sharing the relevant page links with us. We looked at the sitemap index on your site and were able to reproduce the issue on our end.

    To troubleshoot the issue further, we’d like you to please reset the Indexables tables and migrations by using the Yoast Test Helper plugin to see whether this resolves the issue for you.

    • Install and activate the. he Yoast Test Helper plugin;
    • Go to Tools → Yoast Test → Yoast SEO → Reset indexables tables & migrations options to reset it;
    • Run the SEO data optimization from the SEO → Tools page again to see whether this resolves the issue for you;

    Can you please confirm whether the issue persists performing the above steps?

    We are afraid to say that we are out of an idea at this moment. Unfortunately, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further directly on your site but are unable to do so on these forums since it’s a public place. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

    i just found out that only pages that have been duplicated are not shown in the sitemap.xml. we use the plugin “Yoast Duplicate Post” in the latest version 3.2.6. i just deactivated “Yoast Duplicate Post” and used another plugin (“Duplicate Page”). but with this one the problem still occurs. maybe this info helps to narrow down the problem?
    thanks for your help,
    martin

    It seems that canonical URL is duplicated from original pages. Please check canonical for these pages ( https://yoast.com/help/canonical-urls-in-wordpress-seo/#howtochange ), because pages which have manually set canonical are excluded from the sitemap.

    exactly that was the reason ?? thank you very much for your help!!!
    one last question: is there a way to avoid that this happens again and we don’t have to adjust it manually every time?
    thanks,
    martin

    Canonical is stored into custom field _yoast_wpseo_canonical and the solution is to exclude this field (and maybe other fields) from duplication.

    There is the filter which you can use – https://developer.yoast.com/duplicate-post/filters-actions/ I’m not sure are there other solution, but you can post question on support forum.

    Hi,

    With the Yoast Duplicate plugin v3.2.6, we tried cloning a sample post. It didn’t generate any value for the Canonical URL field in the advanced tab of the Yoast SEO meta box. Is it possible you’ve manually added a value for the canonical field when editing the cloned post?
