The default sitemap index page will show (/sitemap_index.xml) but all of the sitemap page links (/page-sitemap1.xml) just timeout = “Gateway Timeout
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.”

I have tried disable/enable, changed # of entries per sitemap, checked for plugin conflicts, contacted hosting, nothing resolves.

We would first recommend clearing the caching from your plugin, theme, server, or CDN such as Cloudflare as the 504 error can sometimes occur when trying to communicate with an external server (such as one used for caching the site, like Cloudflare). Also, as the 504 error is a server related error, so we would recommend checking with your hosting provider and ask them to audit the server access and error logs as this can contain more detailed information on the exact cause of the error.

We have additional information on common sitemap related errors and how to resolve them located at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/xml-sitemap-errors/

Yep, we tried all of that, wasn’t anything server side either. Tried another sitemap plugin and it works perfectly, just a yoast issue.

We think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

Thanks for the response but I’m not going to purchase premium just because your plugin has an issue, that’s asking me to pay you to fix your issue. No thanks I’ll just use a plugin that works.
