Sitemap too big

    Google Webmaster gives me the following error for my site-map.

    Your Sitemap exceeds the maximum file size limit. Please create multiple Sitemaps containing fewer URLs to meet the file size limit.

    I’m not sure how to limit the URLs in the site-map or how to then regenerate it once I have done that. My site is GoingFor2.com in case you need it for anything.

  • Hi,

    Google is big, but even they have finite resources and it won’t be possible to cover all the internet. So they have given a maximum file size of 10Mb.

    If your site is big then there is a chance that Sitemap will exceed that size. Try limiting the pages in your sitemap and focus more on internal linking.
