Sitemap problem when adding a different canonical address

    I have set the canonical address of 2 tag pages as the URL of a category page. After this change, the canonical address (URL of the category page) that I gave to the site map (post_tag-sitemap.xml) of the tag pages was added. This was not supposed to happen. Shouldn’t only tag pages have URL addresses in post_tag-sitemap.xml?

  • Hi @antoffensive,

    When you change the canonical URL, the original URL should not appear in the sitemap, only the canonical URL.

    Can you give us the example URLs of the pages where this problem is happening?
