Sitemap mydomain.com/sitemap.xml taking too long to load…

Hi,

mydomain.com/sitemap.xml is taking very long to load at first browswer request. If I cancel loading of sitemap url in browser and hit refresh sitemap shows up right away.

I had the same issue using Yoast so I tried this plugin instead. I tried setting the max MB to 128M and also 256M but it does not seem to affect sitemap loading.

With the sitemap taking too long to load, Google and Bing bots are considering it a ‘time out’ issue and are not indexing any of the urls.

My site is hosted on a fairly decent shared hosting provider (mochahost) so I’m wondering what the problem is that is causing mydomain.com/sitemap.xml to not load on the initial request. I’m sure there are many variables… but,

I would appreciate any ideas you have what’s causing this slow load sitemap issue.
