Sitemap issues after plugin update

After the last plugin update something seems to be happened. While before performance was ok, plugin was generating multiple sitemaps for all the site contents, suddenly google pointed connectivity problems for my sitemaps. They cannot be fetched anymore. I tried to resubmit but nothing changes. The news sitemap is really small, while the standard sitemap should list around 40000 pieces of content.
