    Hi,

After I submit sitemap to Google Search Console, it displays “sitemap submitted successfully”.

When I look at the line below thereafter, it shows an error:

“Couldn’t fetch” “Sitemap could not be read”…

What is the issue here ? Sitemap is generated with XML Sitemap Generator for Google 4.1.21 plugin.

    Thanks

I can confirm that. I get the same error on Google Search Console.

I have recently installed this plugin and this is my first time using it. It was recommended to me by a friend.

I hope this issue would be fixed in a timely fashion.

I have the same problem! with https://lutxana.es/sitemap.xml

    will be a virus?

I have used a workaround that worked for me.

it seems that the sitemap.xml has an unappropriate format that Google does not like. That’s why we get that error.

Within the sitemap.xml file I have other .XML files listed such as projects-sitemap.xml and pages-sitemap.xml.

I took those links and added them to Google console and everything was fine.

I have done the same as above. But, finally deleted this plugin and start using Yoast. Along with SEO, it has site map which had no issues with Google. Ridicilous this plugin name says “Sitemap for Google!” and it has Google issues at the first place…
